Learn to Skate

Looking for a new winter activity or to become a
future champion? For the beginning figure
skater, hockey player, or recreational skater
this program is the way to start! Following
curriculum developed by U.S. Figure Skating and
USA Hockey, the Learn to Skate program is geared
towards all skill levels and all ages,
including: |
|
Snowplow Sam 1-3 The Snowplow Sam
levels have been developed with the preschool
age child (3 and up) in mind. From falling
down to backward swizzles, the focus of Snowplow
Sam is to encourage the young skater to feel
comfortable on the ice and have fun playing
games while meeting new friends. Once all
of the Snowplow Sam levels have been completed
the skater will advance to Basic 2. |
Basic 1-4 For all ages, the Basic
Skills levels teach the fundamentals of ice
skating. From learning how to fall down
and get up to forward and backward skating to
crossovers and turns, Basic 1-4 enables the
beginning skater to advance into specialized
areas of either figure skating or hockey. |
Hockey 1-2 For boys and girls ages
3 and up, Hockey 1-2 has been designed to teach
the fundamentals of skating while introducing
basic hockey skills and maneuvering.
Proper stance, forward and backward skating, and
striding are just some of the skills covered in
Hockey 1-2. A helmet with facecage and
gloves are recommended for the young hockey
players. |
Adult 1-4 Skating is a great lifelong, sociable
activity that can be acquired at any age.
The Adult levels have been designed to teach the
fundamental skating skills with a focus on
promoting physical fitness, improving balance
and coordination, and advancing at an individual
rate. |
|
***Either
a bicycle or hockey helmet is recommended for
all young and beginning skaters
